Tour Plan

On your arrival to Bandaranayake International Airport in Katunayaka, you are warmly welcomed and assistance will be given by one of our Office Staff. Next you will proceed to  Anuradhapura a World Heritage site.

On your way you will pass some coastal areas such as Negombo, Chilaw and Puttalam, traditional villages, wild life areas, man made huge lakes and finally you will reach to Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Sri Lanka founded in 05th century BC. You will visit the ruins of Anuradhapura and will be found the largest number of ancient monuments of the great civilization of Sinhalese. Buddhism was established its first real home in Sri Lanka in Anuradhapura.

The 'Sri Mahabodhi tree' in Anuradhapura, is a very important place for Buddhists. This was planted from a cutting from the original 'bo' tree' under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment, still attracts thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world. The pillars of the brazen palace which once had nine stories, the image of the Samadi Buddha, one of the finest places of Buddhists sculpture, the twin ponds, guard stones & moonstone are among the most famous monuments. In addition to that Ruwanveliseya Dagoba built in 2nd century BC and Thuparama Dagoba built in 3rd century B.C are very important places in Anuradhapura.

After the visit, you will be proceeding to Habarana. It will be a 1 ½ hour drive from Anuradhapaura. You will be staying overnight at the pre agreed comfortable hotel.

After breakfast you will leave for Polonnaruwa.

When Anuradhapura had to undergo many Indian attacks, Polonnaruwa became the next kingdom of rule. The city was equipped with three concentric walls, redecorated with parks and gardens. The city surrounding plain was filled with water by an irrigational network of man-made lakes and canals. You will see Galviharaya, Sea of Parakrama, one of the ancient reservoirs, and the statue of King Parakrambahu the great who built it.

Today, those buildings are preserved as ruins; ancient reservoirs are modernized and made to re-irrigate the agricultural district of Polonnaruwa. In the mean time , you will get a chance to see and buy some attractive wood carvings during your visit to Polonnaruwa

Next, you will visit World Heritage Sigiriya, “The Lion Rock” of Sri Lanka built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. It was a royal castle of King Kasyapa for around 18 years. You will eyewitness the famous Sigiriya frescoes there. The peak of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the site of the palace. UNESCO and Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya Water Gardens to depict its former glory.

After the journey, you will come back to Habarana. It will be a half an hour drive from Sigiriya. You can have an Elephant Ride and eyewitness the jungle life there .You will be staying at the same hotel for this night.

After breakfast, leave for Kandy, a World Heritage Site, via Dambulla. Dambulla Rock Cave Temple where you can see a fascinating range of Buddha's statues with all kinds of postures.

This rock is 500 ft. high and a mile round the base. Here is found the famous rock temple dating to the first century B.C. The caves of Dambulla sheltered King Valagambahu during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. On your way to Kandy , you will visit a Ash Temple in  Matale.

In the afternoon, you will arrive at Kandy. You will take sightseeing and shopping tour of the city. Kandy city is very famous for Gems, Jewelries and Silk cloths. In the evening visit the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha and. Overnight stay at the pre agreed comfortable hotel in Kandy.

After breakfast, leave for Gadaladeniya and Lankathilaka Temples . After that you will be proceeding to Kelaniya Temple close to Colombo . Finally at the end of the day you will be dropped to the airport.
