Leave Colombo for Anuradhapura, a World Heritage site. On your way you will pass some coastal areas such as Negombo, Chilaw and Puttalam , traditional villages , wild life areas , man made huge lakes and finally you will reach to Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Sri Lanka founded in 05th century BC. You will visit the ruins of Anuradhapura and will be found the largest number of ancient monuments of the great civilization of Sinhalese. Buddhism was established its first real home in Sri Lanka in Anuradhapura.

The 'Sri Mahabodhi tree' in Anuradhapura, is a very important place for Buddhists. This was planted from a cutting from the original 'bo' tree' under which the Buddha achieved enlightenment, still attracts thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world. The pillars of the brazen palace which once had nine stories, the image of the Samadi Buddha, one of the finest places of Buddhists sculpture, the twin ponds, guard stones & moonstone are among the most famous monuments . In adition to that Ruwanveliseya Dagoba built in 2nd century BC and Thuparama Dagoba built in 3rd century B.C are very important places in Anuradhapura. After the visit, you will be proceeding to Habarana. It will be a 1 ½ hour drive from Anuradhapaura. You will be staying overnight at the hotel Chaya Village (Habarana Village).

After breakfast you will leave for Polonnaruwa.

When Anuradhapura had to undergo many Indian attacks, Polonnaruwa became the next kingdom of rule. The city was equipped with three concentric walls, redecorated with parks and gardens. The city surrounding plain was filled with water by an irrigational network of man-made lakes and canals. You will see Galviharaya , Sea of Parakrama , one of the ancient reservoirs, and the statue of King Parakrambahu the great who built it.

Today, those buildings are preserved as ruins, ancient reservoirs are modernized and made to re-irrigate the agricultural district of Polonnaruwa . In the mean time , you will get a chance to seeand buy some attractive wood carvings during your visit to Polonnaruwa

Next, you will visit World Heritage Sigiriya, “The Lion Rock” of Sri Lanka built by KingKasyapa in the 5th century A.D. It was a royal castle of King Kasyapa for around 18 years. Youwill eyewitness the famous Sigiriya frescoes there. The peak of the rock, with an area of nearlyone hectare was the site of the palace. UNESCO and Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya Water Gardens to depict its former glory.After the journey, you will come back to Habarana. It will be a half an hour drive from Sigiriya.You can have an Elephant Ride and eyewitness the jungle life there .You will be staying at the same place at the hotel Chaya Village (Habarana Village) for this night.

After breakfast, leave for Kandy, a World Heritage Site, via Dambulla. Dambulla Rock Cave Temple where you can see a fascinating range of Buddha's statues with all kinds of postures.This rock is 500 ft. high and a mile round the base. Here is found the famous rock temple dating to the first century B.C. The caves of Dambulla sheltered King Valagambahu during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. On your way to Kandy , you will visit a Spice Garden at Matale.In the afternoon, you will arrive at Kandy. You will take sightseeing and shopping tour of the city. Kandy city is very famous for Gems, Jewelries and Silk cloths. Check in the hotel Chayacitedel . In the evening visit the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha and.Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy.

After breakfast, leave for Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Pinnawela which is about one hour drive from Kandy. Pinnawala is one of the biggest elephant orphanages where the wild elephants that were lost their herds by human-elephant conflict. Most of them are baby elephants.The elephants are fed at the orphanage and bathed in the nearby river twice a day. If you didn’t experience the Elephant ride at Habarana, you still have the chance to go for an Elephant Ride at Pinnawala.In the afternoon, on your way back to Kandy you will visit Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya. Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden is consisted of thousands of plants and trees, an Orchid House with an outstanding collection, an Octagon Conservatory, Fernery, banks of bamboo and numerous flower borders with cannas, hibiscus, croton and colorful bougainvillea. This garden is best known for its collection of Orchids the largest in Asia.In the evening, visit the city of Kandy. The most famous landmark of Kandy is its Lake in the center of the city. The Kandy town is bargain hunter's bazaar to buy Sri Lankan Gem and handicrafts. Late in the evening view the Kandyan cultural performance at the Kandyan Cultural Center.Overnight stay at the same hotel Chayacitadell in Kandy.

After breakfast, you will travel to Nuwaraeliya , the little England of Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya, the famous health resort of Sri Lanka's Central Highlands. On your way you will visit a tea plantation and witness the manufacturing of the world famous "Ceylon tea". Check in at the Grand Hotel , Nuwaraeliya. At the evening, you will have a visit of the Nuwaeliya City, Gregory Lake and you can play Golf if you are interested at the Golf Club. Overnight stay at the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya.

After breakfast, early in the morning, you will leave Nuwara Eliya for Yala National Park via Ella. On the way, you will get the chance to eyewitness the magnificent view of Ella gap and Rawana water fall. Check in Yala Village Hotel in the afternoon. In the afternoon safari in Yala National Park by jeep.The Sri Lankan wild Elephant, the best attraction at Yala can be seen in small & large herds. Herds of spotted deers , Monkeys-the pinkish rhesus and the Grey-faced Langur , Wild buffalo & wild boar could give you a good shock & the sight of a leopard is drinking water at a water hole could be memorable experience to you. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds at Yala. The painted stork, many varieties of heron, the spoonbill, the bee-eater, parakeets, and king-fisher & wood pecker are some of the birds can be seen in the park.Overnight stay at hotel at Yala Village.

This is the last day of your journey based on our schedules. After breakfast leave for the pre agreed southern or Western Beach from Mathara to Negombo. There are so many comfortable hotels in each beach area. You will have to book and stay in one of the hotels and enjoy the golden beaches of Sri Lanka.
